Census 2001: Nations, Regions & Districts – Age Structure (KS02) ( JD021C )

2001 Census population is obtained from Key Statistics. The table provides information in numbers and percentages by Age Structure.

Age is derived from the date of birth question and is the age at a person’s last birthday. Dates of birth that imply an age over 110 are treated as invalid and the person’s age is imputed.

The confidentiality of personal Census information is paramount, and disclosure protection measures are used to prevent the inadvertent disclosure of information about identifiable individuals.

Population by Age structure is categorised as follows:
1. All people
2. 0 to 4
3. 5 to 7
4. 8 to 9
5. 10 to 14
6. 15
7. 16 to 17
8. 18 to 19
9. 20 to 24
10. 25 to 29
11. 30 to 44
12. 45 to 59
13. 60 to 64
14. 65 to 74
15. 75 to 84
16. 85 to 89
17. 90 and over
