This table is data from the 2005/6 Social Atlas it provides information about various social indicators at Estate and Settlement Level. Data is give for the indicators below as per 1000 population/dwellings, rank (with 1 being the estate with most difficulties) and index (MK average=100)

INCOME Housing/Council Tax Benefit March 2006 Postcoded information on claimants was aggregated to estates/settlements and expressed per 1,000 dwellings. Estates and settlements are then ranked according to this figure. Milton Keynes Average = 186.2 per 1,000 dwellings claim benefit.

CHILDREN Family Referrals 2005/2006 Counts of families referred to Social Services by estate have been made, and expressed per 1,000 dwellings. Milton Keynes Average = 21.7 per 1,000 dwellings. Nursery Place Funding Non-uptake 2006 Count of 3 and 4 year olds not in receipt of nursery education funding. Milton Keynes average = 570.2 per 1,000 3 and 4 year olds.

Children with Special Educational Needs (4 to 18 year olds) March 2006 Postcoded data on children statemented with special educational needs is aggregated and expressed per 1,000 4 to 18 year olds. Estates and settlements are then ranked according to this figure. Milton Keynes Average = 34.9 per 1,000 4 to 18 year olds. Free School Meals March 2006 Postcoded information was aggregated to estates and settlements and expressed per 1,000 pupils. Estates and settlements are then ranked according to this figure. Milton Keynes Average = 109.8 per 1,000 pupils.

Educational attainment 2005 The proportion of eligible pupils attaining BELOW Key Stage 2 level 4+ in English expressed per 1,000. Milton Keynes average: 280.0 per 1,000 pupils. The proportion of eligible pupils gaining LESS THAN 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C expressed per 1,000. Milton Keynes average: 483.6 per 1,000 pupils.

YOUNG ADULTS 18-24 year olds Not Receiving Student Awards September 2005 Postcoded information is aggregated and expressed per 1,000 18 to 24 year olds. Milton Keynes Average = 851.3 per 1,000 18 to 24 year olds.

OLDER PEOPLE Older People Clients of Neighbourhood Services April 2005 – March 2006 Postcoded data on clients is aggregated and expressed per 1,000 pensioners. Estates and settlements are then ranked according to this figure. Milton Keynes Average = 78.1 per 1,000 pensioners.

COMMUNITY FACTORS Domestic Fires Data April 2000 to March 2005 Bucks Fire and Rescue Services postcoded data on domestic fires is aggregated to estates and settlements and expressed per 1,000 households. Milton Keynes Average = 11.2 per 1,000 households over 5 years. Violent Crime April 2005 – March 2006 Recorded Violent crime at estate and settlement level is expressed per 1,000 total population. Milton Keynes Average = 27.3 per 1,000 people. Burglary (Dwellings) April 2005 – March 2006 Recorded Burglary of dwellings at estate and settlement level is expressed per 1,000 dwellings. Milton Keynes Average = 10.6 per 1,000 dwellings. Criminal Damage April 2005 – March 2006 Recorded Criminal Damage is expressed per 1,000 population at estate and settlement level. Milton Keynes Average = 198.5 per 1,000 dwellings Neighbour Complaints April 2005 – March 2006 Milton Keynes Council Environmental Health postcoded data on domestic nuisance complaints is aggregated to estate and settlement and expressed per 1,000 dwellings. Milton Keynes Average = 13.4 per 1,000 dwellings. Adult Continuing Education April 2005 – March 2006 Postcodes of clients enrolled in Adult Continuing Education courses were aggregated to estate and settlement level and expressed per 1,000 population not enrolled on ACE. Milton Keynes Average = 973.4 per 1,000 people.

HEALTH AND DISABILITY Teenage Conceptions (Under 20 year olds) 2004/2006 annualised. Births and terminations data to teenage girls aged under 20 are aggregated to estate and settlement and expressed as an annual average per 1,000 15 to 19 year old girls. Estates and settlements are then ranked according to this figure. Milton Keynes Average = 49.2 per 1,000 15 to 19 year old girls. Concerns over data volatility mean that extreme caution should be used in the use of this indicator. Disabled Concessionary Fares 2005 – 2006 Postcoded data is aggregated to estate and settlement and expressed per 1,000 population. Milton Keynes Average = 11.7 per 1,000 people. Disabled Clients of Neighbourhood Services April 2005 – March 2006 Postcoded data from Neighbourhood Services on teams for Learning disability, Physical disability, Mental Health, Duty Team, Joint Elderly and Mental Health, and the Hospital is aggregated to estate and settlement and expressed per 1,000 population. Milton Keynes Average = 5.2 per 1,000 people.

HEALTH AND DISABILITY Emergency Admissions 2004 – 2006 The number of Emergency Admissions into hospital are expressed as per 1,000 population. Milton Keynes Average = 191.6 per 1,000 people. Non Emergency Admissions 2004-6 The number of Non Emergency Admissions into hospital are expressed as per 1,000 population. Milton Keynes Average = 151 per 1,000 people.

POPULATION DENOMINATORS Population figures used in this publication are estimates from the 2005/6 Population Bulletin. Age specific populations are estimates based on postcoded figures from Bucks Health Authority Patient Registration data from the Sept 2006 patient register, these figures were then adjusted to match the 2005/6 Population Bulletin figures. Missing data in index and per 1,000 are either suppressed due to issues of confidentiality or not available. missing data in rank denotes not ranked.
