A Level or Equivalent Points Score (2005/6 – 2012/13): LEAs ( JD112Ed )

This table provides information about Average AS / A – level points scores by the candidates gender. Advanced level courses now consist of two elements. Year 1 is known as AS (Advanced Subsidiary) and is a free-standing course so that students are able to complete the one-year course and gain an AS level award. The AS course is pitched between the current standards for GCSE and A level. The second year of A-level studies is known as A2 level. This can only be completed if the student has completed the appropriate AS level course. AS courses are deemed to be equivalent to half a full A level course, and so are allocated half the UCAS tariff for university entry. Age at the start of the 2010/11 academic year i.e. 31 August 2010. Students entered for a GCE or VCE A level or other Level 3 qualification equivalent in size to an A level.
