Apprenticeship Framework Completions (2005/6 – 2012/13): Local Authorities ( PE199 )

This table gives details of the total number of apprenticeship completions by local authority in each year from 2005/6 to 2012/13. Apprenticeships are paid jobs that incorporate on- and off-the-job training leading to nationally recognised qualifications. As an employee, Apprentices earn as they learn and gain practical skills in the workplace. 1) Figures for 2011/12 onwards are not directly comparable to earlier years as a Single Individualised Learner Record (ILR) data collection system has been introduced. Small technical changes have been made in the way learners from more than one provision type are counted, leading to a removal of duplicate learners and a reduction in overall learner numbers of approximately 2 per cent. More information on the Single ILR is available at: 2) Region and Local Education Authority are based upon the home postcode of the learner. Where the postcode is outside of England, learners are included in the ‘Other’ category. Where postcode is not known this is also included in the ‘Other’ category. 3) These figures are based on the geographic boundaries of regions as of May 2010. Figures for 2003/04 to 2008/09 based on earlier geographic boundaries are available in the SFR Archive, but these cannot be directly compared with new figures due to boundary changes. 4) Figures for 2010/11 onwards are based on postcode to geographic area assignments in the National Statistics Postcode Lookup. Figures for earlier years are based on the Office for National Statistics Postcode Directory. 5) Volumes are rounded to the nearest ten except for England Total which is rounded to the nearest hundred. 6) ‘-‘ Indicates a base value of less than five. 7) Cornwall includes Isles of Scilly.
