Nations, Regions & LEAs: Pupil Teacher Ratios in Schools (2010) ( JD0105Ed )

This table provides information about Pupil : Teacher Ratios (PTR) in schools. The information relates to the number of pupils and PTR in England. This data is obtained from Department for Education. The Pupil : Teacher ratio in school is the ratio of all pupils on the register to all qualified teachers employed within the schools. Qualified teachers only are included for all schools i.e. all other teaching staff at these schools are excluded (ONS). The Pupil to Teacher and Support Staff ratio is calculated by dividing the total FTE number of pupils on roll in schools by the total FTE number of all teachers and support staff employed in schools, excluding administrative and clerical staff. Note: 1. Includes maintained and non-maintained special schools. 2. Includes Direct Grant Nursery Schools, City Technology College and Academies. Totals may not appear equal to the sum of the component parts because of rounding. – = Negligible or not available
